PAINT
"I love brilliant colors that mix easily, and darks that are clean and colorful ... That is why I use *SENNELIER !  My theory of color is to use the brightest colors available and select a light value and a dark value of each color. "SENNELIER"  is known for their great  color saturation. They do not mold or dry out and won’t clog up my spray bottles." They are made with honey which makes the color brighter ,easier for mixing, and do not have ox gall in them so dry color in the palette can be re-used therefore less waste !
... Here are the colors I have in my palette.
SENNELIER COLORS:
Red Orange
Opera Rose
Burnt Sienna
Cerulean Blue
Cobalt Blue
Lemon Yellow
Hookers Green
Alizarin Crimson
Sennelier Yellow Deep
Phthalo Green Light

Phthalo Green Deep
Sennelier Red
Permanent Magenta
Ultramarine Deep
Yellow Ochre Light

The following ( IMPACT COLORS ) are necessary for all my workshops as they are important for enhancing the focal point and to emphasize  sunlight and shadow.
...Lemon Yellow...Opera Rose...Phthalo Blue...Phthalo Green Light...Blue Indanthrene...

The 'DOT BOTTLE ' [ yellow top , purple neck ) colors that I primarily use are  ...
........Cobalt Blue.........Sennelier Red.........Lemon Yellow........Phthalo Green LIight. ......Yellow Ochre Light.......Red Orange...Permanent Magenta
These Dot Bottles are used for creating impressions of many subjects (trees, leaves, flowers .roads, water, etc.)

PAPER
I prefer *FABRIANO  paper  especially the 'EXTRA WHITE ', (made in France). It has a tight weave and strong internal sizing, which allows for... correcting mistakes with ease, lifting of color, the ability to re-paint over scrubbed areas, liquid frisket, and my spray bottle/texture techniques. I use both 140# and 300#  The EXTRA WHITE has different texture on each side so more options for the  painting and the artist! There are many papers  like D'Arches that do not work well with  my techniques. They absorbs too fast and are difficult to lift of dry color.

FREDRIX CANVAS
I will do a demonstration one day on  Fredrix watercolor canvas (18" x 24" OR 16" x 20").

BRUSHES I USE

Natural hair is very important, and Sable is the best:  I prefer long hair and long handle.  They flow, hold more color, release more easily and are a soft touch to the paper.  The three bolded brushes listed are the ones I use 90% of the time.  I like Silver Brush Ltd. because they use sable and have an excellent tradition of quality.  You don’t need a lot of brushes, just a few brushes of  good quality natural hair.

                                        * These Brushes are the ones I use the most.

*3/4" Full Flat
1/2" Full Flat
*#8 Liner/rigger

*#16 Designer  Round
#7 Raphael 8404

PALETTE
I use a porcelain palette which allows colors to float and stay expanded. This allows me to see the variety of mixtures which directly relates to my creating more colorful paintings. I recommend to my students to at least have a palette without  dividers in the mixing area. These dividers create a painting without harmony and variety.  See my palette video at...
